Lamigo Bay is a new residential recording studio on the the stunning far north coast of Scotland

The studio looks out over Lamigo Bay, with its sandy beach and blue water, located in the small village of Skerray. The studio is a perfect space for artists seeking a retreat in the natural beauty of the Scottish landscape, and is equipped with vintage tape machines and analogue gear.

The studio is made up of a wood-lined live room that has a deep warm sound with a short natural reverb. There are two booths, both a little deader in sound for a closer, more upfront sound. These can also be used as isobooths and make recording live as a band a possibility. We have a dedicated control room with great sight lines to the band and the view out to the sea.

Recording to analogue tape is a big part of what we do, and we have been working with tape for decades. We understand how to use tape in collaboration with digital technology, and also love using it as a standalone recording technique. The studio has a 3M 2” 16-track from 1968, which we love.

The setting is gorgeous for beautiful walks and swims in the waterfalls or the sea. This is the perfect space for exploring, seeking retreat and focusing on your music project.

The Studio is powered by wind

There is a wind turbine on site producing all the power that could ever be needed to run a studio, but don’t worry, if it's a beautiful sunny calm day we are also connected to the national grid.
